Writing is for everyone. Not the book writing kind of writing but journaling the thoughts, feelings, action plans, etc..
You listen to a thousand sounds like music, stories, lectures or podcasts in a day. Your brain passes them out mostly. You remember only certain things you paid real attention to. These facts are also filtered and faded in some days based on the frequency of your reaching them inside. The more you think of something, the more it is absorbed better in your brain.
Writing with a pen and paper is a way I never thought worked well. But it does! It allows you to slow down. When you write slowly the things that matter or don’t matter, your mind also takes notes. It remembers and keeps track of journal statements.
You can listen to 4-5 lectures in a day but won’t remember a single one of them. But if you listen to a single lecture and write about it with your hands, you will mostly remember it for a very long time.
Sometimes in life we are confused about ourselves or our feelings, journaling helps to clear our mind. Sometimes feelings overflow inside us, those days pouring them out on paper is better than bottling them up. Some days we feel empty and lost, we can simply look at the things that make us happy and make a simple list. No matter where you are in your life, writing always helps.
There is no rule that you have to be great at writing or show it to someone. The most fun part about writing is that you write it for yourself from the inner voice of the soul. Everyone is writing their own life story. So, why not make it a better one with writing on paper too?
People these days are fancy journaling with doodles, patterns, colorful stickers and what not. But journaling is not about being fancy, it’s about being with yourself. You can do it with a simple pen lying somewhere and a paper or a simple notebook. No need to spend money or wait for a certain time of the day to journal.
I write whenever I can, wherever I can. Sometimes I don’t have pen and paper, I write on my phone. However, writing with your hand is always better at untangling the mind.
Some people have lost touch with writing for years and this might seem an absurd idea to them. It isn’t. I will tell you why. We learned technology, typing on WhatsApp too, forwarding messages because we thought it will help us in communication. So, when it comes to communicating with ourselves, we are just making an excuse. Are we running away from ourselves? Think about it.
Do we need to write big paragraphs with proper grammar? Not at all!
Write bullet points, random points, draw mind maps or write single words or just doodle. There is no rule for journaling. Write what feels right to you. Write what you are feeling. Just write.
So, clear the doubts and start writing your mind today.
